Clinical supervision and a reflective space for other practitioners and psychologists
I value a supportive supervision relationship where we can challenge each other and grow professionally in a safe space. I believe that supervision should be neuro-affirming, take into account your life experiences and identity as a human being, and work for your clinical and personal life.
My main therapeutic approaches include ACT, CFT, CBT and EMDR. I am not a qualified EMDR supervisor but can recommend many fantastic colleagues. I work in a person centred way and adapt evidence based approaches for the individual’s needs.
My areas of specialism include oncology, health conditions, trauma, child and adolescent mental health, grief and bereavement and burnout. I also have a passion for supporting fellow clinicians avoid and heal from burnout and overwhelm in their practice.
Supervision
Depending on your needs, we can discuss the best arrangements for supervision or a reflective space. I bring with me over 10 years of experience in the field of Psychology, across a wide range of services and presenting problems. Since qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist, I have supervised trainees and other qualified staff as well as managed a multi-disciplinary team.
My supervision style can be tailored to your needs - taking into account your personal preferences, your level of experience and what you wish to gain from our work together. I prefer to bring myself as a fellow practitioner and as a human to supervision, and I feel it is important for us to be able to express ourselves fully in a safe space.
I have had experiences of wonderful supervision across my years of practice, and unfortunately also experiences where supervision has not worked well for me or felt helpful. I will bring with me all of these experiences in the hope that our work together can feel meaningful and help you to develop as a professional.

What happens when I get in touch about supervision?
Initial discussion
During our first call it is helpful for me to understand your clinical experience and background, who you are as a clinician, and anything else that might be relevant for us working together. I also want to understand what you hope to gain from supervision, as well as hear about your experiences of good and bad supervision to date. We will then agree on how we might be able to work together going forward including frequency of supervision, what other supports you may need around you to practice safely, and any other relevant details.
Once we have agreed on what we want to achieve and whether this is possible, we will work out a supervision plan together. I can use different supervision models depending on your preference and style, although my own preference in supervision is a blend of experiential learning, reflection and clinical discussions.
We will conduct sessions online unless you live locally to me (North East Scotland) in which case we can discuss whether you prefer to meet in person.
Supervision sessions
If our supervision doesn’t feel right for you or we have to end for another reason
If either of us feel as if we are not working well together or not a good fit, I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this with you, and we can work together to consider alternative supervisors if you would like. I have a network of qualified colleagues who might be a better fit for you personally.
If we have to end supervision for some reason, let’s arrange a final session if we can to discuss this. If supervision comes to an end because I am no longer able to practice suddenly I have contingency plans in place to manage this.
Fees
Supervision is charged at £120 per hour which includes the time we meet for supervision, any notes or resources I can provide for you alongside our conversations, and the opportunity to get in touch with me before a supervision session to outline any particular challenges or dilemmas so I can prepare for the session.
Therapy for Therapists
I am happy to provide therapy for other clinicians. I aim to provide a confidential space away from your local team or colleagues whom you may know well professionally, where we can explore whatever themes have come up for you. Whether you are dealing with life related challenges or work challenges, let’s discuss your needs together in a free consultation. For therapy please use the Individual Therapy page to contact us or get in touch by emailing your name, email address and a short message:
